Strong numbers attended the recent Buying Property Abroad exhibition held at the Globen, in Stockholm, Sweden during the 27-28 September.
Official figures released from the organizers (non-ABC) said that 4,483 people attended the show, which featured 97 exhibitors from 27 countries around the world.
Concerns were voiced before the event as to the number of buyers expected to attend, with the global economic crisis continuing to sweep its way throughout Europe.
However, Ahmed Jamal, president of lead generator EMP Advisers, noted: “We got the same sort of numbers in terms of leads that we registered in the previous year at the Stockholm show. Compared to other shows we have done recently in Singapore and Asia, this was well attended”
Sven Kallstrom, founder of organizers Fair Media International, believes his decision to advertise heavily is behind the strong attendance.
“The week before the exhibition the headlines in the Swedish newspapers read “biggest crash in history” and carried a lot of negative press” he said. “We chose to take the opposite route that other companies have done and took out six full page advertisements in Stockholm and Gothenburg national papers. It was the first time we had ever spent so much on advertising, but it worked.”
