Japanese investors still keen on investing in Thailand

HOME » NEWS » Japanese investors still keen on investing in Thailand
The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) has affirmed that Japanese investors are still keen to invest in Thailand, according to Minister of Industry Mingkwan Saengsuwan.

Speaking after meeting with visiting JETRO president Munenori Yamada in Bangkok, Mr. Mingkwan said the organization wanted to assure the Thai government of consistency of Japan's investment in Thailand.

The JETRO chief reiterated Japanese investors' intentions to invest in the premium-grade steel industry and their readiness to help train personnel and transfer technologies to Thais.

In addition, the Japanese organisation expressed support for Japanese investment in business activities that could promote Thailand as the kitchen of the world.

Mr. Mingkwan said he told the JETRO chief that Thailand's auto and energy industries must be developed together.

The Energy and Agriculture and Cooperatives Ministries would take part in zoning an energy and food plant agicultural area and residential areas.

To make it clear for an alternative energy direction, he said, the ministry had assigned the Auto Institute to co-sponsor with JETRO a seminar in which all auto makers would be invited to brainstorm on the pros and cons of alternative energy.

Regarding progress in eco-car production, Mr. Mingkwan said that the environmentally-friendly auto manufacturing plant is under construction, and the research and development is taking places to ensure its engine is used with the E85, E10, and E20 gasohol alternative fuels.
